Muhammad, one of the most common names used to name boys in the Muslim world, is the name of the Prophet of Islam who is followed by Muslims all over the world.

Muhammad literally means 'the praised one'.

Muhammad son of Abdullah [may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him], is the last Messenger and Prophet sent to mankind, as a guide and teacher to all humanity till the Day of Judgement.

The position of the Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is such that Muslims spend their entire lives in an attempt to emulate the Prophet's manners, sayings, worship and his general character. Muslims do so to achieve the pleasure of Allah, the Most High.

Muslims do not worship Muhammad peace be upon him, but follow on his footsteps in worship of Allah.
